For my Birthday Adrian took me to IKEA! I loooove IKEA and if I could only choose one store to shop at until the end of my days, it would be IKEA! (see, I told you that I loved IKEA )
We got THESE kitchen towels and yesterday I felt like doing some home decorating. Even though the towels were meant to be actual kitchen towels for wet hands or dishes, well, I couldn’t resist to make them into cute little pillowcases I used some fabric I had laying around for the back. If you are planning on doing this, you might as well buy a second set of towels
My sewing machine has 7 different button hole programs and I have always been very intimidated to try it out. Well, as the towels were a teeny bit short for my pillows I decided it was about time I learned that button business! I googled some instructions and about 10min later I had my first button hole made on a piece of scrap fabric
I decided to go with some reeeeaally cute buttons and instead of using normal white buttons I used some by Crate Paper. They are wooden and match perfectly with the beachy feel of my new (oh so pretty) pillows
Hope that inspires you to do something fun this weekend And let me tell you, button holes are easy and pillow cases don’t have to be sewn perfectly straight hee
Hope you all had a great weekend and all US ladies a great Memorial Day?
I wanted to drop in real quick to share two projects I made for Crate Paper with their brand new Baby Lines! Really, these two new lines are SO cute and you don’t need to have a baby to be using the beautiful, so typically CP paper (even though you will see, I did my projects about babies )
Above: I usually don’t work too much with circles, but for this layout I wanted to challenge myself to do just that. It’s always fun to go outside your comfort zone – every once in a while
Below: Remember Edith and Chris’ Photo Shoot? They got their suuuper cute baby Girl Mia and I just had to craft a little Welcome card for her/them The new line also comes with those pretty little wood shapes – you really need to check out the lines if you haven’t already
I’ve been super busy during the last few days (well, who isn’t busy the week before Christmas…?) I’ve made like a gazillion layouts and other projects since I have to work ahead as much as possible for the trip. More details on that in a sec. Here a sneak on one of the pages Gotta show you that new technique I came up with the other day, making REAL glitter splatters!!! A.MA.ZING! Soon soon.
Oh yeah, and yesterday I colored my hair once again I know, I look like 18 or so, but now I seriously look like 16 One good thing comes from that: when I’m 50 I (hopefully) won’t look like 50 ha!
And now to the trip….. We had to cancel our hotels in Jackson and Silver Gate, because there’s barely any snow up there right now (according to WeatherUnderground) so we are planning on leaving in the end of January. It’s a bummer, but there’s really no point in going without a ton of snow Soooo, we’re trying to be excited about Christmas once again and see what happens with the trip. Things like that show me how small we really are and how amazing it is to have a God that is so so so much bigger and stands over all our itty bitty problems
All righty, I let you get back to all the Christmas preparations
Today I have some crazy news to share with all of you. Nope, I’m not pregnant But it’s still suuuper exciting and I have been antsy for the last few days, since we’ve started to book hotels
We are going on a crazy Winter Road Trip, this January! We will be leaving on January 1st and will be driving up to Jackson, WY. Then after some discovering of Grand Teton and the bigger Jackson area we will be driving up north, through Yellowstone on the one and only open street to SIlver Gate where we will stay for another few days and hopefully see lots and lots of wildlife, including wolves
I hope the weather will work for us (and when I say that, I mean please let it snow!! And some sunshine to take pics of animals- pleeeease ) We already got warm socks, a pair of awesome winter boots for me, gloves, sweaters…. Even cool snowshoes (sponsored by my parents for Christmas )
It’s just SO exciting!
BUT NOW – change of topics
I made this layout for BlueMoonScrapbooking some time ago. I used my Silhouette SD to cut out some stars in various sizes – and I have been using them on a few more projects ever since By the way, I used my favorite Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, which is Suede. It is a beautiful brown color with GOLD!
At IKEA I got some really cheap pillows (INNER, 2.99 each) that are nice and full and perfect for craft projects! Today I will show you how I made some really easy Envelope Pillow Cases and tomorrow we will talk about making them pretty So check back tomorrow to complete this project
You’ll need: INNER Pillow, White Fabric, Sewing Machine, Pins
1. Cut your white fabric into shape. You will need one 33×16″ and one 20×16″ panel. Zigzag the edges so they don’t fray and sew the two panels on the 16″ edge together (see first picture)
2. Lay the piece of fabric on a flat surface, right side up, and place the pillow on the bigger panel, close to the seam. Now wrap up the pillow and make sure it is nice and snug on the two shorter ends.
3. Start to pin and gently take out your pillow. Sew both long edges together, turn the case right side out and you are good to go
Merry Christmas ♥
Quick Stamp Update: The stamps should arrive next Monday and will be up for sale on (hopefully) Tuesday
